The second JobKeeper Extension period will run from 4th January 2021 to 28th March 2021.
In order to qualify for this extension, businesses will need to show their actual GST turnover has declined in the December 2020 quarter relative to a comparable period (usually the December quarter 2019). For existing eligible employers, this new decline in turnover form must be submitted before their businesses monthly declarations on 1st February 2021.
Businesses can be eligible for JobKeeper extension 2 even if they were not eligible for JobKeeper extension 1.
JobKeeper Rate Changes
The rates of the JobKeeper payment in this extension period are:
- Tier 1: $1,000 per fortnight (before tax)
- Tier 2: $650 per fortnight (before tax)

Outstanding BAS Statements:
If a business is registered for GST, and has outstanding BAS statements, it is the ATO’s recommendation that you lodge them as soon as possible. Un-lodged BAS statements may delay your application for JobKeeper Payments under the JobKeeper extension.
Key Dates for JobKeeper in January 2021
The Kennedy Barden office will be closed from Wednesday 23 December and re-open on Monday 11 January 2020.
We will prepare the JobKeeper monthly declarations for December 2020 upon our return to the office on 11 January (the ATO has extended the lodgement cut-off date from 14 January to 28 January). The JobKeeper payment is usually made by the ATO within 3 business days of receiving the monthly declaration.
Assessment of our clients eligibility for JobKeeper 2.0 – Extension 2 for the period 4th January 2021 to 28th March 2021 will also occur upon our return. If you are unsure about your eligibility, our recommendation would be to pay your employees for actual hours worked only until we have completed the assessment. If you are eligible to continue to receive JobKeeper 2.0, you have until 31 January 2021 to pay your employees their top-up amounts (if required).
